Even if they see a business application, the main focus is on the mathematical techniques. Survey of differential and integral calculus with applications, including derivatives, integrals and max-min problems. If a student takes MATH 130 and MATH 135 and earns a C or better in both courses, the second course receives credit. If the student only succeeds in one of the two courses, then credit is given for the course successfully completed.

Still, most programs will be ok simply with your business degree , test scores on tests like the GMAT or GRE, and related experience. Finally, in an regular calculus course, you will also focus on some definitions and occasional proofs that are really important to understanding the theory side of calculus.

This course is not a substitute for MATH 2413, Calculus I. In Unit I, students learn integration in order to find the area between curves, using linear, quadratic, cubic, and exponential functions. Students then learn how Riemann Sums can be used to approximate areas. In Units III and IV, students learn the Power Rule for taking derivatives and then learn to identify curve properties such as slope, concavity, relative and absolute extrema, and inflection points. Unit V incorporates the Product and Quotient Rules, the Chain Rule, and derivatives of transcendental functions. The final unit addresses implicit differentiation, related rates, integration by substitution, and a return to integration with indefinite integrals.

Derivatives – derivatives are a way of understanding rates of change. They are a central part of any introductory calculus course and so will be a big part of both classes. Using the tree table above, determine a reasonable domain and range.
